Oh. My. Goodness I was COMPLETELY unprepared for the deliciousness that awaited me at Southern Hickory Barbecue! I just stopped here because it was convenient, grabbed a book to read while I sat outside at one of their picnic tables waiting for my food. But I didn't wait long! I put down Pudd'nhead Wilson and opened my styrofoam box. A solid portion awaited me--esp now as all things food are going cRaZy! I put a piece of pork in my mouth. Not kidding at ALL. THE VERY tastiest, juiciest pork ever. Ever. Hands down Well done y'all

No other Brunswick stew will do !! When it’s “in season” (only avail in fall and winter) SHBBQ’s stew is the ONLY place to go !! My goodness ! Their stew is just the right spicy mixed with succulent pork/turkey (your choice); savory potatoes and country veggies !! IT IS fantastic !! The only thing about winter in Alabama I look forward to is Southern Hickory BBQ’s Brunswick Stew !! )) Cullman, Hartselle and Arab locations ! All are great and have the nicest people that serve with a southern smile !

No ketchup based sauce. This real BBQ with vinegar sauce and vinegar slaw. Accept no substitutes.

Just finished my meal here, one of us got ribs, the others got pulled pork. None of it was like a run of the mill southern BBQ place, it all seemed to have its own distinct recipe apart from what you'd normally find. The ribs had a distinct smoky flavor, and call me crazy but it almost had a coconutty flavor that I personally loved. The sauces were also very good and not just standard syrupy sweet sauce. Ps for anyone looking online, the prices in store as of 2024 are cheaper than what Google says here. Thoroughly recommended 10/10

The pulled pork sandwich was exactly what I want in a pulled pork sandwich. Flavorful juicy meat, fresh crisp slaw, just enough pickles and adding mayo added a great texture. But the pulled turkey sandwich, I may be a convert to those being the better sandwich. Obviously turkey will be more dry, but theirs was still beautifully juicy and soft. It somehow is shredded into the perfect sized pieces and still holds moisture and flavor accentuated by that awesome slaw.

This establishment is drive-thru only. We had a delicious chocolate pie. The ribs were cooked perfectly and were not seasoned too highly. We like to add our own sauce so they were perfect for us. We had a pound of the pulled pork and love the vinegar sauce that came along with the pound. We had a side of potato salad and it was delicious. We will be back.

I'm picky about my BBQ...so I didn't get food here, my daughter did. But I took a bite of her BBQ sandwich and regretted not ordering one for myself! Very, very good ...
